Churnet Valley Rd, Kingsley Holt

Our Community Share Offer has now closed.

Total Raised £140,000.00

On 24th July 1937, the foundation stone was laid for the new Kingsley Holt Methodist Chapel.
On 20th November 1937 the opening ceremony was held.
In 2017 the Chapel celebrated its 80th anniversary.
On 9th June 2019 the final service took place.
In May 2021 we were informed that the Methodist Church trustees planned to sell our village Chapel

The Kingsley Holt Centre project has purchased the former Methodist Chapel building in the centre of Kingsley Holt and aim to turn it into a vibrant, welcoming and accessible space for all.

We hope to be able to provide a range of events and activities as well as space for hire for groups, classes, meetings, training and family functions. We will also be opening a community shop and café within the premises, which will stock local products and produce and be staffed by volunteers.

Now is our only opportunity to create a community space for the future whilst retaining a piece of our history. And we want you to be part of something we know will be really special.

Thank you to everyone that has invested in our community share offer or made a donation.

The building now belongs to the community!

After the huge disappointment we had in June, when an offer from another party was accepted to purchase our village Chapel, this person/s decided they could not proceed with the sale and our offer was subsequently accepted.

Almost a year to the day since the Methodist Church announced their intention to ‘dispose’ of our village community space, On 5th September we completed the sale and have taken community ownership of the building.

We now plan to renovate and modernise the building as sympathetically as possible, before we open the Kingsley Holt Centre in Spring 2023. The Centre will consist of a community shop & cafe, and function rooms. With all profits that we make being used to benefit the community.

We want to thank everyone that has helped to make this happen. You have helped to ensure that the Kingsley Holt Centre can look forward to a bright and exciting future, safe in community ownership.

Please keep an eye on the website, village newsletter & social media to keep up to date with our progress.
